Ohio State should have hired a guy with at least 10 years of head coaching experience.
Dabo Swinney, Lincoln Riley, and Jimbo Fisher, were all promoted from within as their first head coaching experience. And they have 7 of the 20 teams that have been in the CFB, and 7 of the 13 teams that that weren’t Alabama and OSU. Kirby Smart and Mark Helfrich (less successful overall), both made the playoffs during their first HC stint. Dantonio only had 3 years of HC experience before MSU. And Petersen had 8.

Qualifications should be tougher when you depose the winningest coach in the game. It should be a clear improvement. Not a lucky (or unlucky) guess.
Gotta be one of the dumbest administration moves in the history of college football.
