5. DE Bradley Chubb, Denver Broncos: Chubb signed his rookie deal June 21. The deal is worth $27.27 million.

Let’s see anyone on here turn that down for some archaic notion they owe it to the team. GTFO

First, I will stretch an ellipses for dramatic effect/the sake of conveying my cadence as much as I damn well please, my good man.

Second, something tells me you don’t even actually know him.

No he hasn't. He has disappointed the selfish mouth breathers who think LSU football is all that matters in life. Grow up.

It is a completely selfish decision, but it is his decision to make. It is ashamed that this is where College Football has gone, but shouldn't surprise anyone given that the league makes a TON of money off of these kids.

My initial reaction is to talk about commitment to a team, honoring your commitment, blah blah, but we all know this is old-fashioned talk. Those days are gone for most and it is very difficult to lay blame at the kid's feet, when these college athletes basically get used to produce revenue.

What a hyperbolic dipshit. (Oh yeah, it’s tRant.) Me being disappointed that one of out best players is just willingly not going to play makes me a retarded child who thinks football is lief. Thanks for adding your insight to the discussion, dicknose.

Well-said. I didn’t make this thread to bash Greedy, nor can I blame him for getting paid. But it is selfish, and it is disappointing. And sorry, but the narrative of “they gotta get paid, frick you, and your ‘team’ bs” is the sort of logic that’s gonna turn college football into college basketball.

After LSU lost to Bama, he should have stopped playing if he was worried about getting injured in non significant games.

Following this logic he should have declared 3 weeks ago. IMO

While I agree, remember how far Jaylon Smith (Notre Dame/Cowboys) fell just by tearing his ACL in his bowl game.

Yet more first rounders play in bowl games than not right?

So, to be perfectly clear, your position is that because Greedy chose to sit out the last game of the season, rather than 3 or 4 total games spread out throughout the season, he is making an illogical decision?

I am not sure that your argument gets you to where you're trying to go.

The TEAM should not play in a "meaningless bowl game". Why risk injury to any player? Everyone should just stay home. And that will keep the SEC from getting the payout for the game. It's a meaningless game, right?

He played the season he signed up for.

This bowl game is post season. He has no obligation to play in it even if it was the playoffs.

It is difficult to imagine that the opportunity to play in and win the Fiesta Bowl is now insignificant. I understand the “we didn’t make the playoffs” approach, but players on all but about two teams (Clemson and Bama) should be excited to make the Fiesta Bowl. It is probably a dream for UCF players. And, most of us fans would have been pleased before the season started if LSU could make a NYD bowl game. I would actually think that winning the Fiesta Bowl could be one of the career highlights for some of our players. An added bonus being the opportunity to take down a team that hasn’t been beaten in two years....what a memory that could be!

Not busting on Greedy, because he has done a lot for LSU. Just disappointed that our Bowl season, one of my favorite times of the year, is getting diminished by players who no longer see them as significant.

No. My position is that if you’re healthy and your team is playing in a freakin’ New Year’s Day bowl, you should play in that bowl game.

The OP is in response to all the rantards going on about how this game is meaningless because it’s not the playoffs and therefore anyone who has a problem with Greedy’s decision is wrong, stupid, selfish, etc. If a program re-defining NY6 bowl berth isn’t worth playing in versus the risk, then he should’ve been sitting since the Bama loss. Because by that same logic, all games become meaningless the moment you’re out of the playoff picture, apparently.

And....it also makes it difficult to bet on these bowl games, when you don’t know which teams DGAF about the game!!
