quote:Thanks for suggesting this. I am getting back used to it. it is most like Living Cookbook in a lot of ways. And it is pretty easy to capture recipes - similar to LC in some ways.
I've been using Paprika Recipe Manager

Happy to know the suggestion was useful. Hope the transfer from the old files isn't too painful.

Well, unfortunately it's not perfect.
I don't see a way to export recipes or publish a cookbook. That is a problem. Also, it doesn't appear that you can have multiple cookbooks. Everything just gets mashed together.

You can create your own custom categories that you can sort recipes into that can provide for de facto different cookbooks all contained in one single database.

quote:Yeah, I see that, but that does nothing if you can't publish. It doesn't get me closer to publishing the next F&D Board Collection.

I may have to use more than 1 program to get what I need.

If you put your recipes on Google drive, you can organize them into folders by category. Then you could turn on link sharing and share with the board.

quote:With all due respect, this is nowhere near a workable solution. there's no way to publish a coherent cookbook and doing this would be a ton of work for 13,000 recipes.

13,000 recipes?!?!
Have you considered that this might be a situation where you consult some outside assistance? Seems like an awful lot of data to maintain. Perhaps a database consultant or cookbook publisher could do the heavy lifting with the transition.

Rat - Paprika does not have the publishing capability.
The exporting options are there - but limited.
Recipes can be exported as Paprika files - useful only to send to other Paprika users.
The second option is to export as html files - which will also create a clickable index to individual recipes. Any of these can then be saved in PDF format.
There is probably some way to get to what you need using the latter - but you will definitely need at least one more jump to get to a formatted, easily shareable ebook.
Sorry Rat.

It depends on how they are storing the data. If they are using local database file on your computer. We can retrieve all the info

What do you mean by "publish?"

Isn't that in word format? Why would Google docs be any different?
Posted on 12/30/18 at 9:11 am to Fourteen28
I suppose someone could take the existing collection in Word format and add the newer recipes. i'm not interested in doing that.

Have you asked the questions to the Tech board here or Reddit? Usually those people and the collective will of them all, find a solution
Posted on 12/30/18 at 1:17 pm to LoneStarRanger
I've recovered the recipes. What I need now is a recipe management program that does what I need.

That’s what I mean. Ask tech board/reddit

Would it be possible for you to do the same to my lcb file? I am in the same circumstances and don't have a way to get my family's cookbook back. Let me know, nforshee93@yahoo.com

MasterCook will convert your old .lcb file into MasterCook format for $25. Look on the MC website.
