Question concering Monds knee down?

After the interception by Delpit, I turned TV off thinking we won. A few minutes later after seeing the rant I turned it back on. What was the ruling on the field, explanation about Monds knee being down? Did they not see he was not in possession of the ball when his knee was down?

Touching the ball while knee down...play over

You don't have to possess the ball.

They got a 10 second run off but if it was stopped when it happened a lot more time would have come off the clock and probably the next few plays don’t happen. It’s amazing how many breaks that cult got last night.

That’s just simply not true. He never had possession. It was a mishandled snap.
A live ball
How many fumbles have you seen blown dead once a player on the ground touches it?
He picked the ball up as his knee was going up. The ball was even moving as he grabbed it. When he has possession of the ball, there is space between his knee and the ground
The announcers and review officials see what they want to see.

You do have to possess the ball. Had he took a clean snap and slipped with ball and knee touching the ground, then you’re right.
He NEVER had possession. It is a live ball.
Can you imagine how many fumbles in the history of football have been called wrong if a player on the ground only has to touch the football for it to be dead?
You guys really enjoy having objects forced up ur arse, then apologize for it. LOL

You don't need to have possession like catching a pass. If you're pressing the ball against the ground even with one hand while your knee is down, it's done. That's what I'm hearing anyway...
I’ve never seen that rule applied before. So an LSU player couldn’t have picked up the ball at that point? All a player has to do is touch a flailing ball on the ground with his knee down and play is dead? So pretty much all fumble scrums for the ball are now pointless?
Every explanation I’ve seen here defies logic and everything else I know about football.

Actually his knee appeared to be down but it was not

Who turn TV off that quickly? Trying to save electricity or something. it's like your hand had to be on the power button as delpit intercepted the ball

Correct
There was space between his knee and the ground at all times, and if there even was some contact with a blade of grass and his knee pad and pants, it didn’t happen when he had possession

I’ve never heard of it being a dead ball as soon as he touched the ball with his knee down. If that’s the case, then every single fumble should be a dead ball as soon as the fumbling player touches it with a knee down.

You're not applying the logic correctly. Since he was the one who ultimately controlled the ball, touching it while the knee was down means he was down. If an LSU player moved in and picked it up, he wouldn't have been down.
The play isn't over when he touches it, it's over when he gains possession, but once he gains possession, he's already down because of the knee.

He knew wasn't on the ground when he gained possession.

I know, but his knee was on the ground when he touched the ball, and he gaine possession shortly thereafter.

It wasn't called on the field and there wasn't overwhelming evidence his knee touched. I just watch a slow mo and it looked like his knee did not touch. It was game over on the spike anyway because aTm had only 5 men on the line. 2 short.

What happened after? Did the clock run or did A&M have a time out and used it? Otherwise they couldn't stop the clock except for an incomplete pass. The refs either didn't see the eligible formation or just didn't want to call it. That would seem to have been a penalty on A&M and I think there was supposed to be a 10 second run off and end the game.

So that's a live ball in every other game.

It's not. You can argue whether his knee ever really touched, but if he touches the ground while in the process of regaining possession, he's down.

simply touching a fumbled ball when you are down does NOT end the play. Look at the case of multiple fumbles as the ball slides out from under players and under different players.
Mond fumbled the ball and just touching it while down is NOT the rule. By the time he picked it up he was on his feet and not down.
