Max Johnson - Junior yr - hudl

I hate to say it but it looks like Max is Danny Etling 2.0. And Etling is one of my top 5 all time favorite Tigers because he was a great competitor and a good person. Loved his pocket awareness and toughness as well. But as a thrower, he was limited.

I see the same lack of arm talent from MJ.

Pros: Good athlete. Impressive size with stocky frame even at 6'4" - with room to put on more weight. Excels at throwing on the run.

Cons: Weak arm relative to what's needed at the D1 level. The few times he is able to put SOME zip on the ball in his highlights were the few times he put the lower half and upper half of his body in to the throw versus just upper half which he used most of the time. Still, his upper half and lower half were never quite in sync for any of his throws. Even so, his arm is weak. Really awkward left-handed throwing motion that will need tweaking. Accuracy wasn't ideal in making up for his lack of arm strength.

He's a high 4 star, almost 5 star. #5 Pro style QB.

He's also a 2020 recruit so he will get stronger and his arm strength looks fine for a 16/17 year old.

Your description of Max sounds like how people would have described his Dad. Did Brad have a great arm or ideal throwing motion?

On his film I saw him throw a far hash 15 yard hitch on a rope. That's a big time throw for a 17 year old. I watched his film and first thing I thought was "good arm talent".
