Well I agree with you here.

I'd rather regressive taxes (taxes that tax evenly) instead of progressive taxes (taxes that select winners and losers).

I would put VAT and fair tax in the regressive category and tariffs and income taxes (with the current marginal tax rates) as progressive.

I'm just holding out and being patient for China to come around and open up their markets and stop the IP theft then the tariffs will go away by a lot. It's somewhat painful now but I really believe that is the end goal.
