anyway, this game does what is so rare for sequels, and prequels even more so. it adds legitimate weight to red dead and i feel like the next time i play it, i will view it in a complete different light and whenever anything happens, i will be thinking of arthur and how he is touching and affecting the characters and story. thats the thing, arthur has agency. he doesnt react to narrative drama, he creates it. he matters and his actions matter. when i think back to red dead, i can legitimately feel how arthur shaped the actions of john marston and his future life. hes such an amazing character. and it makes jacks decent that much more painstakingly tragic

Yep. Couldn't agree more. This game did a great job of creating Arthur, but beyond that, it did a phenomenal job in the background of really developing John as well.
