A federal judge in California ruled in favor of the Trump Administration on Thursday, blocking a bill that gave the state the right to thwart the sale of federal lands to private interests, including loggers, oil drillers and developers, reports said.
U.S. District Judge William Shubb ruled against the state’s Senate Bill 50, which gave the State Lands Commission the first right of refusal of the sale of federal lands in California, the Sacramento Bee reported. The bill was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown in October 2017, according to the Sacramento Bee. State Sen. Ben Allen, D-Santa Monica had sponsored the law, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The judge’s ruling said the bill is unconstitutional because it “trespasses on the federal government’s ability to convey land to whomever it wants,” the Bee reported.

I don't know if I like this, feds land grabbed a bunch of shite out west and should at least give the states first opportunity to purchase it back.

I have mixed emotions on the topic.
Is selling federal land under the executive branch's umbrella only? Does Congress get a say?

I agree that the states shouldn't be allowed to block the feds from selling land, but I think it would only be fair to offer the states the opportunity to purchase it first.

Not a fan of this ruling.. States should have first right of refusal or atleast matching rights.. This seems to double down on Obama’s land grab albeit for opposite reasons

You think trump would turn down a best offer from the state just to sell it to a company?

Either way I would not be excited with States owning more land either.
Government owning land isn't a good thing.

No, but a process that notifies the state and gives them so many days to match said offer seems fair and appropriate, but something that should be done by Congressional statute, not judicial decree.
