It's a very significant thing. My wife and I get practically zero guff when out and about together. And there are so many mixed kids in our neighborhood, it's not even really a thing people notice.

America is fricking awesome. I love this country. Never been a better one in which to be a minority in the history of the planet.

I agree that the US is the Best country for minorities.

However the frame we expect to see racism in has changed. Racism is most likely not going to come in the pre 1970s form of lynch mobs, racial slurs, mistreatment by lack of service etc.

Those are visible and therefore the easiest forms of racism to do away with. Real racism today comes in forms that are alot more subtle.

Being stopped on the street when you didn't do anything suspicious, etc.

Or being passed over for a job that you are more qualified for. Or being denied acceptance to a school when you have a higher GPA. I agree, racism is alive and well in some parts of society.

Stop and realize what you just said. 1970 was NOT that long ago. Hell, my parents were born in '61. The culture shift in a scant 3-4 decades is fricking STAGGERING by any metric. Nigh unprecedented in world history. That cannot be understated.

You do realize that this happens to whites, too, correct? The vast majority of the time when it happens to minorities, it's because other idiot minorities committed some crime. What, are we supposed to just tell LEOs not to stop someone that matches a description because someone might get mad? That's unrealistic, and not a good example of racism. Certainly not worthy of any sort of comparison to pre or even immediate post-civil rights era.

You are poison. Your thought process is poison. Your constant search for an external force driving your community's failures is poison.

Every thread I see you post you are constantly looking for an external reason for your struggles or some overarching system you can break down to justify your failures or perceived inequities.

Stop looking. Buy a mirror.

This happens to white people all the time. It's probably far more dependent on how you're dressed and how you're acting.

You just never hear about white people being stopped on the street.
