Are Funerals for Police Dogs Too Much?

I’m talking about the full-on regaliia and ceremony (bagpipes, black band over the badge) that we would give an officer killed in the line of duty.
Is this a noble enterprise? I get the impression cop dogs are viewed as no different from human cops from the “back the blue” crowd.
Or is it a little too much? My view is it’s a dog, not a human; have a service commensurate of such.

They are warranted. The life of a police canine is ruff.

They deserve a better funeral than most of the folks they bite in the arse.

Go flog yourself for this stupid question.

Yes
Don’t let the dog lovers in this thread already find out what happens to fire fighter dogs....

They deserve nothing. Always turning a blind eye to their handlers claiming a hit. Man's best friend my arse. More like The Man's best friend.

it's OK to have some sort of ceremony to remember their sacrifice

Humanization of animals has gone entirely too far. People referring to their dogs as sons/daughters/children is borderline psychotic.

Agree. Ever hear of one of the French Quarter horses becoming anything more than glue? Chunk officer Rover in a dumpster like the rest of us do and be done with it.

I know the downvotes are incoming but having a full LEO funeral ceremony for a dog is fricking ridiculous.
I can understand it for the 9/11 dogs but not some dog that has done nothing but been hauled around in the back of a cop car only to be pulled out whenever their handler wants to make an illegal search legal.

I think we found the guy who was driving drunk w/o a license

I wonder are there harsher penalties for killing a police canine than a regular canine?
Posted on 11/1/18 at 2:37 am to Longstreet
No, but they shouldn't be forced to fight for the state in the first place. A dog is a very malleable being, and I'm against any sort of training towards violence.
That goes for culcha pit bulls and K9s alike. Thugs - black, white, or blue - turn dogs into monsters.

Those police dogs are super smart and worth more than their sorry human counterparts. I would definitely give them funerals.

Which liquor store did you try to rob?

Serious question though, what do police dog searches have to do with someone driving drunk without a license?
