quote:Basically, the City of El Paso used eminent domain for private development, with an eye toward reclamation of a blighted area.
The NYT reports that O'Rourke's father-in-law proposed gentrifying a neighborhood in El Paso by force, bulldozing public housing to make way for restaurants, a shopping district, and an art walk.
I am not a fan of this use of eminent domain, but it is nothing new.
