I have seen dr Chip Bankston about my shoulder, injection and then 6 weeks of rehab. Still some lateral weakness compared to other shoulder.
The MRI results
Advanced rotator cuff tendinosis, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus, with moderate grade partial thickness tearing along with bursal surface fraying. No full thickness rotator cuff tear. The subscapularis tendon is normal. Long head bicep tendon is normal. Negative for labral tear. Moderate joint arthropathy with inferiorily directed spurring. Subacromial subdeltoid bursitis with small bursal fliud collection. Etc etc no atrophy.
The Ortho is recommendeing surgery, but he said we could wait but it won’t really heal. My therapist said I could be a candidate for stemcell - at this point I would gladly pay for the shot vs 6 months of rehab.
I continue to play golf and a little tennis, but I’ve been taking it easy on the shoulders in the gym.
Thoughts - thanks and sorry for the long read.

I can't compare your exact injury, but a trainer at the gym I used to go to had stem cell for a torn rotator cuff. He said it was a great experience. It was a ton cheaper for him because he didn't need PT like he would after surgery and he said he felt almost immediate results, as in within like 3 days he could feel progress and was back to normal in about 8 weeks.

This was a gym that trained professional and college athletes for reference, not some doofus at Planet Fitness. I'd at least explore than option.

Thanks - I will, I really value the therapists opinion. He’s helped various LSU and other college athletes as well a professional athlete. I’m just a guy mid-50’s enjoy going to gym, playing a little golf and want get some decent sleep.
Atleast it’s a moderate grade partial thickness tearing and bursal surface fraying. ( I’m just repeating the report).

TLDR: Mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to improve healing rates but not functional outcomes, though high-level human trials are lacking.

If you have the money to give it a try, go for it. But don't expect a miracle. Bankston is good, but take the time to get a second opinion.
PT can really help, stay with it as long as you can. Make sure you discuss your usual workout regimen with PT, show them how you typically position your grip, exercises you do, etc.
