Why can’t other central / South American countries provide asylum?

Are there no countries in central or South America that can help these people? People don’t want us to police the world but they want us to save everyone.

If this was about "asylum" then according to world convention, asylum seekers must seek asylum in the first safe harbor they come to.
In other words, the convention doesn't allow you to traverse one country to seek asylum in another.
This is ENTIRELY about these people wanting to get to the US specifically.

I just heard Rush play a clip of Louie Gohmert(?) and he said that people seeking asylum have to seek it from the first country they enter after leaving their home country.

Simple answer: Its because Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador hate Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Nicaraguans. Hate as in they won't even hire them to be gardeners because they trust the Venezuelans more for that job and they hate the Venezualans.

Fox news interviewed a few of the men in the caravan and they basically said everything that Trump is eluding to: they are NOT seeking asylum, they are NOT trying to reach safety in just any country, they specifically want to come to US for jobs. They literally said this. These aren't refugees, they are illegals.

I'd go to Costa Rica first and bang a few whores and do some sail fishing then head Norte...but maybe they don't have have the funds for that?
