So dumb.
These types of moves are just feel good.
Straws continue to be demonized when they represent a barely measurable amount of the plastic that enters the ocean.
The vast majority is fishing relating items like nets and consumer items like plastic bottles.
Most of this comes from rivers in Asia not in Britain or North America.
If they want to make a real change, eliminate plastic bottles. I would like to see them try that.

Maybe they know they can't and are trying to eliminate plastic where they can.

when I was in china a few months ago there was a huge ad campaign discouraging the use of "single use plastics".
