People actually believe the Creation story was meant as historical fact rather than as an allegory?

I thought it was just straight up plagiarism.

This is what drives me nuts--that people actually DO believe this!!

I'm Catholic, and a biologist. I just cannot bring myself to see the Creation story as the complete truth. But it makes sense to write it that way, because how can anyone 2000 years ago fathom that the world is billions of years old? Hell, we know dinosaurs existed, but the closest thing you get to a dinosaur in the Bible is the serpent and the beast in Revelations.

Not to mention the fact that if 2 cousins get together now-a-days, they produce a kid with webbed feet and two heads. Yet, somehow all of mankind comes from Adam and Eve?

I just don't see how anyone could take that literally. It's just a simple way of explaining it.

People are stubborn though.
