"Culture" in Louisiana is sometimes a tad overblown. More from the outsiders, though.
I remember being in New Orleans once and some obvious tourists asked a guy at a fruit stand with HORRIBLE grammar/speaking skills 'How much for the tannnnngerines?'
He mumbled something back to them that I couldn't make out, either. The wife asked the guy 'what did he say??'.
The husband answered 'You know I don't understand any of that Cajun.'
(The guy wasn't Cajun.)
