Now that we won the game, the only thing I care that Orgeron does better than Kirby is recruiting John Emery.

There is a difference between "better coaching" and being "better prepared". LSU was better prepared for THIS game, but I doubt you will find many people who will suggest EO is a better HC than KS.

I've been an O hater, and pretty open about it. Still don't think he's great. Would have preferred Jimbo, honestly.

But O, his Ole Miss record notwithstanding, is a COMPETENT coach, who now has years of experience running a team. He crashed and burned at Ole Miss, did an acceptable interim job at USC, and now has done an acceptable job here.

Kirby caught lightning in a bottle last year at Georgia. They had a deep, talented team with lots of NFL talent, a weak SEC East to run through, and caught the added benefit of a rematch against a rival that embarrassed them (Auburn), in a payback SEC Championship, instead of facing the Alabama juggernaut in a money game.

I doubt Kirby would have done the same here as he did there. I wouldn't have been surprised if Orgeron would have taken that UGA squad to at least the East title, and probably would have won the Auburn rematch too.

I'd say O is probably better than a lot of first-time coaches, he just doesn't have the ceiling they might have. But IF he can keep his ego in check and not get insecure about things, he's probably going to be a good place-holder here.

I think the guy was not necessarily saying that LSU’s Players and coaches were better than UGA’s, just that LSU was better than the other teams they’ve played so far, which is really not saying much.
