Students stormed the field in 1982....maybe for FSU...and a couple of cops wailed with their nightsticks on an unlucky couple of students who were climbing the goalposts. Meanwhile, other students poured in. It’s like the unlucky wildebeest that gets attacked by crocs in the river while the herd runs by. I think that was the last time I saw security in BR try to do anything. I ran on the field in South Bend in 1984 (?) after we beat ND and all the cops did was chase us off the field.

Cost of a lawsuit>>>cost of security.

I agree. It would be interesting to see the fine print on the back of the game ticket to see if you are agreeing to stay off the field, and if you don't are subject to being physically restrained.

I was at that FSU game as a HS teenager and saw what you described. I also went on the field myself for the 1997 Florida game - the only time in my 39 seasons of going to LSU games.
