Do you care if a store puts sealed food product in same bag as sealed cleaning product?

Fairly often I hear people telling a bagger to make sure to keep these items in separate bags. I have never understood the logic of this.

I prefer that they be bagged separately.

Its probably a 70/30 split between convenience when I get home and paranoia.

If I have a small amount of items I will insist they put everything in the same bag. They will often look at me like I am crazy and say "Are you sure?"

When I take my stuff outta the buggy and put it onto the conveyor, I intentionally sort the cold, room temp, scented cleaner type stuff, and soft stuff (bread) so the checker doesn't frick it all to hell.

A bottle of hand soap isn't a big deal but I would rather they not put a bottle of CLR in a bag with my 10oz Prime fillets.

Common sense would tell you to put cold wet food together just as you would put eggs and bread on top.

This is me too. it frustrates the wife. cans go together, all meat goes together, all dry goods, all loose vegetables, all paper products.

i rarely buy cleaning shite when i'm grocery shopping though.

Chemicals can leak into your food and poison you.

Any restaurant or place that has food, they are supposed to be kept separately on diff shelves.

Me too, but they still frick it up half the time. No, the giant bottle of apple juice does not belong in the same bag as bananas, TYVM.

To the OP, I'm not going to make a big deal at the register, but I've had liquid soap leak in a bag so I do try to keep it separate. Usually I'll just adjust the bagging before I load them in the car.

From a sealed cleaner into a can of green beans?

Probably.

Would you put a bottle of CLR in your fridge?

Because at a restaurant they would write you a Health Code violation for storing them together.

Raw protein gets its own bag. Everything else don't care

What danger could CLR being in the same bag as a can of green beans pose?
