Went to 3 Super Bowls with a so so supporting cast, then got a good RB and immediately won back to back titles even on the back end of his career. Mike Shannahan never even sniffed anything close to the same success for the rest of his career once Elway retired. Elway was the ultimate prototype QB, even moreso than Marino bc he could take literally whatever the defense gave him and make something out of it, including taking it and running.
