You'd have to relocate a cemetery, do a few million in drainage work, or fight the railroad to gain vehicular access from Dalrymple. That gains you access to nine acres, whereas the golf course is 40 acres and it already has access.

And you know as as well as I know, fixing safety in that area is easier said than done. Old South ain't exactly being gentrified at a rapid rate.

Now you get into the issue of the affect on the neighborhood and the streets. The access to an urban Central Park at the present golf course would undoubtedly include cluttering up the surrounding neighborhood with cars and undesirable foot traffic creating a convenient crime opportunity.
