Some of you might recall a couple of years ago when my son, then in the 5th grade, was instructed to draw a picture and turn it in as a project, with the picture to be the kid's own interpretation of the moment in the book that had the most impact on the story. In this case, a bad guy shoots and kills someone who is the main character, and she drops dead, bleeding into the flowers in front of the state capital. So, of course, he drew out that scene.

We got a call that the school was going to suspend him over it. Once we got to the school, and determined that it was a book assigned to my son to read and report on by his teacher (who had not read the book in advance), and that there were no instructions NOT to draw a gun, the principal said that she STILL had to suspend him because of their zero tolerance policy.

My wife pretty much came unglued, and I'm sure she could be heard 100' down the hallway, but after we told her (the pricipal) to contact the district superintendent and put him on a conference call, she balked, until we said we were immediately hiring an attorney and that we would be going directly to the local news media.

She capitulated, but we had to go ape on the situation. The whole PC culture has destroyed individuality in our schools.

It's worse than that. They are teaching girls to cry racist and rape because someone disagrees with them.
