First-quarter grades for college football headlined by Alabama, LSU and Southern Cal

Biggest surprise: LSU
All-knowing preseason prognosticators pegged LSU as the SEC team most likely to disappoint, especially in a top-heavy West Division headlined by Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State. Yet the Tigers have already beaten Miami (Fla.) and Auburn through three games to rewrite the team’s narrative. We’ll see if it’s sustainable, but LSU has played its way into the early title conversation.
Best conference: The SEC
The idea that the Big Ten rivaled the SEC was erased during a rough Week 3 highlighted by Wisconsin’s loss at home to Brigham Young. Meanwhile, the SEC has been as strong as predicted at the top but better than expected along its second tier, where teams such as Missouri, Kentucky and Texas A&M have impressed. Alabama, Georgia and LSU are in the top six of this week’s Amway Coaches Poll.

Unbelievably impressive and I will keep saying that I hope the coaching staff continues to prove me wrong. Obviously UGA and Bama are tougher than Miami and Auburn, but to have the two toughest road games behind us with wins makes one feel pretty, pretty, pretty good about the season.

I agree, as we move into conference play the chance for injuries and etc grows as the season goes, and this goes for everyone. Still got to be on your game for every game still moving forward, nothing is a given
But we could not have asked for a greater start at this point of the year. Hope the offense continues to progress

Well, the good thing is that we don't have to play Bama this Saturday. LSU has some time and oppurtunities to work out any issues on offense before the tough UGA, State and Bama stretch.

How is it so obvious?
Auburn went 2-1 against those two teams last season. Is Auburn worse this year? Did those two teams get that much better than Auburn somehow?

Has Bama played a team with a defense yet?

Wait, I thought we aren't allowed to talk about things that happened in the past?

Ree,
Serious question:
Are you or are you not on the Payroll of the LSU athelrtic department? Or some other official LSU affiliate?

They are better IMO. Bama is just on another level on offense. UGA is probably the same. I have questions about Auburn's offense when it comes to protection and running the ball. We will see in the coming weeks, but it would be fantastic if Auburn is better. It would give LSU that much more of a chance to beat them both at home.

Seriously man,
I was as down on O and as skeptical heading into this season as anyone. But this team has earned some early season respect (and so has O). No need to shite all over 2 top 10 wins away from home. Especially when we still haven’t seen this team play a complete game yet.

Do you have a stalker crush on TigerRee?
And why would you and 7 others downvote this extremely positive news about LSU?

Southern Cal still seeking a football coach? Les Miles is available.
