I've said it before, but Coach O really screwed himself putting so much into the 5-star JUCO QB transfer back then. He ended up sucking and there was no improvement on offense.
Keep in mind he took Jevan Snead at QB as a transfer his last year there who ended up being pretty good, but wasn't able to play until after O got fired. He left Nutt a great situation in 2008 from a player personnel standpoint and they did well. Don't think it's becuase Nutt is any better of a coach than Coach O, just that the cards finally aligned from a personnel standpoint the year after O was fired. Now it's all speculation if O would have done the same or better in year 4, but there's no doubt the players they had in 2008 were better set up for success than in any year 2005-2007.
O made many mistakes as coach there, but if he was given 1 more year (not saying he should have), things may have turned out much differently.
