No, it was a lot different then. Recruits in those days didn't have social media / instant newsfeeds from recruiting services to troll coaching staffs and fan bases with. There were some inflated egos, of course- but the absence of social media fuel made for a different recruiting process.
Discussions like this hardly existed.
