This is a very strange situation as he is a HC with a great athletic son; he is looking for a job; what do you do as an Athletic Director? You contact him? Is that recruiting by doing so?
The "hire dad/uncle as coach so son/nephew will play for us" thing has been going on for years, at the high school and college levels.
But, unless evidence comes out different, I don't think it's quite as simple as this. In this case, the dad was fired from one job, found another, and relocated to the school zone.
Is the dad - a legit coach - supposed to not be able to get a new job, when fired, just because the kid is a star athlete?
This isn't a school giving me, a non-teacher who has never coached for pay in my life, a job as the assistant offensive line quality control coach so my kid will go there. It's a lot more nuanced than that.
Unfortunetly, LHSAA doesn't do nuance well. And while the public schools will screw the private schools every chance they get, the lesser-talented publics will also screw the more-talented publics every chance they get, as well.

Yes, this ruling seems based off a technicality soley, until proven otherwise.
Also, VC twitted about how they felt it was unfortunate the young man was ruled ineligible. Bitches, did you expect differently?
Yes, a known commodity as a coach (albeit bad one at basketball it seems) was looking for a job (who wouldnt) and schools may wish to hire him.
As i said, you are an AD, do you contact him? You know his son is a star, but he is going to apply everywhere in that parish likely while also finding a suitable apot for his son to play QB. Destrehan? Nope, they have Blood and Marin. St Charles? Hell no, they still have that freshman from a few years back playing. Riverside? Maybe, but he aint getting no HC job there in Basketball ..
On the surface this looks incredibly bad and sad. A sham; a shame.
The LHSAA has to be desolved with an acid.
