In rap war terms, Eminem vs MGK is US v Grenada, and I like MGK more than most.

This is a decent diss track, but that's all. MGK doesn't embarass himself, but this is light years fron Ether, Hit em Up, the Takeover, Story of Adidon, No Vaseline, etc.

We'll see what Eminem does now. If you want, there's discussion of this in the Eminem album thread.

Unless Grenada dropped a nuke on a major city its nothing like that. Rap Devil was fricking SOLID. I am not saying Eminem won't win, but to ignore how good MGK was on that diss is just stupid.

Ehh. It's a decent track, but there's nothing memorable in it. Just because it isn't corny, but it does no real damage to Eminem.

Eminem's sub machine gun line on Not Alike is better than any line on Rap Devil. Heck, half of Rap Devil is throwing complimemts at Eminem disguised as disses.

I posted this in other thread....All his punchlines and shots sound like school yard disses. Your beard is weird? You're old? I don't like your sweat suits? You scream at the mike? You read the dictionary? You're a dweeb? Your last 4 albums sucked? It's pretty bad, but when he is just telling his version of the story, it works better. Makes you empathize with him. I give him more credit for responding then the actual execution of the song.

Are you trying to say the stuff Em says isn`t childish shite? He is always saying shite that is kind of stupid for a 40 plus year old to be rapping about.

I used to love Em and I still like some of his stuff, but the content of some of his songs is just so damn stupid, I feel like he is a very good middle school rapper.

I have never given MGK any real listen. I think this is a nice reply and obviously he isn't a battle rapper, so it`s not going to be this complex over the top stuff that people have to read the lyrics to fully understand. That is what Eminem was until Dre signed him. That is why he`s style is what it is. I actually appreciate being able to listen to a track without having to decipher every syllable.

Yes and no. Em likes dick jokes. If you think it's childish, that's fair. That said, that's also 100% his persona and I think you have to account for that.

It's like criticizing a Snoop album because he talks about smoking weed. It's his thing.

I think a lot of Eminem's recent work is some of the most stylistically and lyrically complex stuff going right now. I enjoy that he's challenging himself to expand his work while keeping the basic idea of himself.

I actually like MGK and Rap Devil is a decent/good track. I just don't think his best stuff can compare to Eminem. The sub machine gun line on Not Alike is the sort of line MGK can't compete with.

No Doubt, Em is the best.

I just have a problem with a guy talking all the shite he talks and trying to prevent MGK from furthering his career, just because he tweeted about Em`s daughter being hot. He has even showed props to Em and the guy still ain`t having it. He attacked all the pop bands because he knew they wouldn`t respond. He has always had 50 or D12 helping fight his battles and then calls for a street guy named Trick Trick to help him.

Now, someone finally takes a legit shot at him, that isn't bad at all and people are still sucking his dick. I have a lot of respect for MGK just for doing the track. Will he get slaughtered in the end? YES! This is either one of two things:

1) Em is setting him up to royally murder him.

2) Em never thought he would respond. (Nobody ever gives a true effort because its a career killing move possibly.)

I appreciate you responding the way you did without a bunch of B.S. I`ve listened to rap for 30 plus years. I know where it started and where it has evolved, so I understand the points people are making.

I honestly think Em did MGK a favor. This is more attention than MGK has gotten in basically the rest of his career.

I try to be respectful of any educated opinion on stuff. The people who blindly go after Eminem because he did the anti-Trump freestyle, not so much, but any legit criticism is worth discussing.

I'm not even a huge Em fan. When he was huge in the early 00's, I always thought he unfairly overshadowed some really talented guys. I don't think anyone would legitimately deny that childish dirty jokes are a big part of what he does. They always have been a big part of his persona.

I find it weird that grown men are making tracks "dissing" each other like this.

MGK looks like white trash, btw.

FWIW this track has been stuck in my head more than any of the songs off the new Em album. Although i like fall, but only because it features the greatest artist on the planet

Eminem responded

It is a new song. It’s called PAC-Man.

That's not actually Eminem. He's trying hard, though.

He’s damn good then. Fooled me, although I thought his voice was off at times.
