I disagree here. You're not trying to stop someone from 50 ft. away. Most shots you will take in your home will be from 15 ft. away or less, and birdshot will tear up body parts from that distance.
Then you don't have the shot that misses tearing through walls causing damage or harm to others in the house.

And I was guilty of this until relatively recently. Youtubers have done wonders to quell this. Basically, I've gone all the way to AR-15 as a home defense platform for a lot of very good reasons.
But, agreed - if your intention is to shoot someone to disable/kill them, you have to use buckshot, period.

If I shoot you with 6 shot at 25 feet, which would be a really big room, you are going die really soon and definitely stop doing whatever you were doing
