So the "I've never understood" really means, over the last few years as everyone carries a video camera and everything is caught on live tv now? Yea I'm not surprised people watch it, people will watch everything. Hence the train wreck cliche'. No I am shocked that in 95% of the videos we are shown, my first thought is usually "Why didn't that dude with the camera help?". People will film a family burning alive in a car, not lift a finger to help, and then want recognition and prob money for the clip.. Western Civ is an oxymoron
