What app did you go with? After a recent doctors visit, I'm not on the calorie watching train and a few apps were recommended but none of them are super helpful as far as finding what exactly you're eating and what the calories are.

You can find nearly anything in my fitness pal.

My Fitness Pal is great and has a very thorough database. And you can always add foods that aren't in it if you have the info.

None of them will be.
You have to use the actual label, a food scale, and the USDA database for "raw" foods like meat, vegetables, nuts, etc. Also note that calorie counts are for uncooked food. Even for pasta and meat. Always weigh the raw version.
Those apps are great as a log, but they allow user submissions which makes the data wildly off at times.
