Georgia was the only colony of the original 13 colonies which included New England and the northeast, which did not travel to Philadelphia in 1776 to sign The Articles of Rebellion which declared independence from Great Britain! THE ONLY COLONY TO COWARDLY TO STAND UP TO ENGLAND. F . A . C . T. ! Georgia did not officially sign it until the War of 1812 ended in a American victory. FACT

quote:

Georgia is a state in the Southeastern United States. It began as a British colony in 1733, the last and furthest south of the original Thirteen Colonies. Named after King George II of Great Britain, the Province of Georgia covered the area from South Carolina down to Spanish Florida and New France along Louisiana (New France), also bordering to the west towards the Mississippi River. Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2, 1788. In 1802–1804, western Georgia was split to the Mississippi Territory, which later split to form Alabama with part of former West Florida in 1819. Georgia declared its secession from the Union on January 19, 1861, and was one of the original seven Confederate states

Relax Francis, it's just football.

I live in Georgia and have for over 25 years after graduating from LSU. It's a beautiful state, mountains in the north, beaches to the east, good economy, well governed (for the most part).

And Athens is the best college town in the country.

As an LSU fan who was born and raised in Baton Rouge but lives in Athens Georgia and is proud to call Georgia home.

I do not approve this message.

I thought I said that, then realized I screwed up the order, you're right though. Athens first, Tuscaloosa second

amen. Boot. Same for me, but I'm in Atlanta, but was in Athens for law school back in the day.

By the way, I love your name - although I doubt many on this board will know what it means. All-time Munson classic.

Athens and Georgia in general are way better than anything in Louisiana.

An opinion that many many many people agree with.

I was really surprised at the size of the mountains in north east Georgia when I drove through this summer.

Placing Tuscaloosa anywhere close to Athens is just a terrible assessment. Athens is vastly more preferred.

GA article inspired my curiosity to check the Louisiana listing. Chart shows temperatures higher in November than July. I guess that means we are in the Southern Hemisphere.

I agree with most of what you said, but the suburban counties of Atlanta are not what they used to be. Gwinnett County, in particular, seems to be a shell of its former self, as are parts of Cobb County.

Buckhead used to be a safe and fun area, but not so much these days. Seems like I enjoy the Atlanta of the mid to late 90’s - early 2000’s more than its current state.
