ESPN - Hot seat roundtable: How Ed Orgeron can save his job
"With so many big-time coaches in new places this year, there aren't as many high-profile names in this year's preseason hot seat rankings. But Ed Orgeron is already facing skeptics and a loaded schedule in his second full year leading LSU. That's a top-tier job, so an opening in Baton Rouge could lead to another wild coaching carousel."
"So what does Orgeron need to do to solidify his standing with the Tigers? And if he doesn't, who could be primed to take over? We assembled a crew of experts to answer those questions and more, including what's next for Lane Kiffin and which up-and-coming coaches could be ready for bigger jobs in 2019."
Need an inside pass to ESPN in order to get their full take, but it appears Lane Kiffin may be the guy they're predicting for LSU, if Coach Orgeron falters. Just win Coach O, that's all that matters to LSU fans and players, not the ESPN B.S.
LSU fans who were both angered and spoiled by Miles, are looking forward to being spoiled by Coach O.

He's not going anywhere until after 2019 season at the soonest.

I think 5-7 would get him run. Anything better than that and I think he'll be back. If we go like 7-5 or 6-6 I think Alleva gets fired.

Only because LSU has pussies for leaders!!!!

The media scratching n clawing for some CFB coaching drama. He’s 15-6 since taking over. Obviously 9-3 n year one if they don’t count interim stint. Look I get Alleva dropped the ball and hired an unproven coach. Skeptical yes. But it’s not like he went 5-7 n year one. How many coaches go 9-3 and get all this disrespect. It makes me pull for him more even though the thought of Kiffin here is kinda exciting

I thought he went 9-4? That loss to ND was awful. Fourth and a foot in a meaningless bowl game and he kicks a FG. Lol

Alleva isn’t going to fire him no matter what but Alleva expires next summer. If they go 7-5 and lost to Texas early in 19 I could see them pulling the trigger and giving Aranda a shot to see what he can do.
I think there’s little to no chance he’s fired this year but if he loses to Miami, Auburn, Georgia, State, Bama, Florida and A&M and they don’t go bowling then I think they fire him this year.
You think fan morale is bad now, let them miss out on a bowl and see what happens.
I agree with OP- It’s all in O’s hands, he just has to win.

As much as I like Aranda I just dont see them making another in-house hire

Missing something?

quote:How many LSU coaches have lost to State by 30? How many LSU coaches have lost to Troy? How many coaches spent 3.8 million on OC’s for 2 seasons?
How many coaches go 9-3 and get all this disrespect.
LSU beat 2 teams with a winning record in 18. One of which was 7-5 A&M that fired their coach.
Don’t let the numbers deceive you- those 9 wins are built on the worst BYU team in a century, Syracuse, 0-8 (SEC) Tennessee, 4-8 Florida, 7-5 A&M, Trash Arkansas and Ole Miss without Freeze.
Now he loses NFL Players- DJ Chark, Russell Gage, Derrius Guice, Arden Key, Donte Jackson, Will Clapp, Tony Westbersby, Kevin Toliver, Christian Lacotoure, Greg Gilmore and Danny Etling.
He fired his new OC and promoted the TE Coach.
He has completely went back on several campaign promises.
Don’t feel bad for Ed. He’s done this all to himself. Now he can win or we will find someone else that can.

Interesting question regarding Ensminger. If the Offense looks like shite and we go 7-5 does O get another Offensive Coordinator hire?

quote:I’ve said this several times. No way the new AD promotes a defensive assistant.
As much as I like Aranda I just dont see them making another in-house hire
I think Aranda’s only chance is if he takes over for O after Texas and runs the table.

Agree - plenty of people have been conned with this no talent, rebuilding b-llshit

Do you know how much money LSU gets just from the SEC network contract?

If O doesn’t win 9 games, he is done. Mark my words.
