Road Work at night on Interstate 12

Does anyone know what they are doing on I-12 East bound on weeknights? It seems that 2 lanes have been closed at night many nights from the Airline Hwy exit to Millerville. Seems like they are jackhammering and cutting the concrete - but for what? It has been going on for over a month.

Replacing sections of the concrete so your drive will be that much more bumpy. Its the worst stretch of interstate (Denham to Airline) and they are making it worse.
