If you're a 30 year old black person, you were 3x more likely to have been born into poverty than a 25 year old white person.
That's still not white privilege. If there were real white privilege, it would apply to all people. It doesn't.
Now if you want to say you have a better chance of being born into a good family if you're white, that makes sense. However, to say every white person has an inherent advantage over a black person by birth (white privilege) is wrong.

Slackster.
Your statistics are correct but you are missing the most important point.
It’s not “white” privilege.
It’s “having a father” privilege.
Having a father that lives in your home and allows your mother the freedom to choose working full vs part time vs staying at home full time is what gives a child the largest statistical advantage over others.
Saying it has to do with race is just not factually accurate. Try those statistical models with any race that values the nuclear family model.
It’s just better.

BUT to say by simply being a white male doesn’t give you certain privilege is being a bit obtuse
So getting treated as expendable by society is a good thing. Got it!

This is the truth. I’m white and there is no doubt there are societal benefits to it. I wouldn’t say that’s my biggest advantage though. We grew up without tons of money. My parents though, neither of whom went to college, were big believers in education. The public school where we grew up was bad. The valedictorian for the year before my older brother was to start school had a 13 on the ACT. My parents decided they weren’t going to send us there. They skimped and saved to send us to a private school. My siblings and I all have graduate degrees yet. You want to talk about privilege. That’s it. Coming from a 2 parent loving household that values education and pushes you and expects you to work hard both in and out of school. That’s privilege.

Is there really a difference? Most black people in this country were either alive during segregation or born to parents who experienced it. Even if we say the privilege ended then, the impacts of it aren't going to go away within two generations.
I don't feel guilty nor do I feel any need to apologize for it, but I still recognize it.

If I was Asian instead of White, and I did everything the exact same... meaning made the same grades at the same schools and had parents who did everything the same, etc..... would my life be any different?
Would I be worse off simply because I was Asian instead of White? I can’t imagine that being the case.
I think a much better and telling experiment would be to think about if an African American was born a black man in let's say Australia or better yet Russia. How good of a life would he have. I'll answer it for you, a longer but shitty one. The only reason they'd live longer is bc they themselves negatively affect the average lifespan of African american men in this country.

And thankfully, my payment posted on-line in time to avoid any late fee.
Don't mortgages have a grace period? I pay my shite a month ahead with extra towards principal, so I'm not sure. But I think they do.
