October isn't a big hurricane month for Louisiana. It does happen but the preferred track through history is coming up from the W. Caribbean into the gulf and getting turned out NE as the mid-lat cyclones get rolling. Ridge pushing in behind a cold front from the NW or a resulting trough eroding the Atlantic ridge. There are Lilis, but that's not the common pathway.
Classic example would be Wilma in 2005.
