Right knee around the kneecap area. If I carry something heavy and I bend the knee like walking up stairs, I feel a strong twinge in the cap area. I want to get into sprinting as part of a workout, but this is holding me up.

Does not hurt walking (yet), sitting, sleeping, etc.

Any ideas what is going on with the knee?

Just the knee cap or in the patella region?

I have low grade patella tendonosis in my L Knee and it sucks.

Not the patella region. I've had patella tendonitis and yes, it sucks. Bad. This is located only in the knee cap area.

I know this sounds crazy, but concentrate on your glutes. Do you have large quads? If you are quad dominant, development on your glutes will alleviate knee pain.

This fits my symptoms. I have terribly tight hamstrings, achilles, quads, and I do too much sitting. I need to incorporate more stretching in my workouts.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

You'd better reconsider starting a sprint program, you are primed for a serious injury.

When the time comes, do it the right way and consider using Power Athlete:

Yes, do not start sprinting if you have chrondo. you will screw up your knee even more and also jeopardize the other one with over compensation

Google some stretches and exercises and do them consistently for a month or two. Don’t run, squat, avoid stairs if possible etc. I’d bet your hips are tight too. Find stretches that open them up as well as your hamstrings and quads. Lower back as well. Lotta moving parts here
