so whose fault is it that what you suggested could be problematic?
If we're speaking in known terms that your pesos will be confiscated, illegally, yours for being a dumbass.

maybe he banks at a smaller bank with no Chicago branches
With cashier's checks and being able to deposit to account with a phone app?
Come on, we all know he was trying to get away without paying taxes.
Banks are required to alert IRS of all transactions over 10k.

So just to be clear, you think he is a dumbass for following the law?

The only reason I can think of is to evade taxes.
Maybe...but was he arrested or proven guilty of this? Nope. Give the man his money back!

I think he's a dumbass for doing something that will draw attention to him. And most likely have a negative outcome.

You saw a picture on the internet, Pecker?

You will have to forgive me if I think someone exercising his legal rights is a good thing, not something to be scared of.

In this country criminals are supposedly found guilty at trial before being punished.

I agree on legality. Its not out of the realm of intelligence to avoid a bad situation, as well, though.
I could drive through all through the Fifth Ward in Houston at 1 AM, but I don't.

I'll expect then that you assume the guys getting shot "sitting in cars" arent dealing drugs too!
I agree the civil asset forfeiture laws need to be reviewed. But, it's hard to feel bad for people clearly trying to pull a fast one regarding taxes.

29k in cash is a bad idea, as proof by this entire topic. You can argue legality all you want, but this dude is probably out of his 29k. Chalk it up to the game Trayvon.

quote:why though? Why is it a bad idea? Because the cops will take your money? You think we should chalk that up to the game as opposed to demanding better from civil servants?

be willing to bet if you went to your bank right now and withdrew $29,000 cash, a drug dog would smell drugs on it even before you made it out the door.
I wouldn't be dumb enough to Carry that kind of cash around. Plus banks get Robbed. Not smart.
And you still think somehow the dog who is trained to sniff illegal substances is somehow to blame here.

Given that virtually all money has drug residue on it, they will alert everytime to the presence of money. That doesnt imply a connection to criminal activity, however.
