I've never had trouble finding reds. I suck at spec fishing, though.

leave the bait home next time and use artificial, think bass fishing and use the same thought process for fishing them.

specks are usually hanging out in different places then reds will hang out so thats why you dont catch many.

once you start catching specks you will notice its just the opposite and you rarely catch reds. its all about the way you fish and the spots you fish

For the OP, just from my experience marsh fishing, I have yet to catch a spec (this summer) in the shallower marshes here in SWLA. Reds will always be a go
