As someone who works for a Canadian company (that does 95% of its business in america) i can tell you that this is 100% how they feel. They realize their economy is going south but still double down on their virtue signaling.

I find it hard to believe that such a mindset would be so widespread. I know they're wrapped up in that inferiority complex of "We're not America! We promise!" pretty good, but surely the majority of the population sees that they look weak and foolish any time they pretend to assert themselves. Their PM thinks playing to the cameras like a goddamn movie character is legitimate foreign policy. Even the worst US Presidents followed up showmanship with policy, even if it was disastrous. This cat just plays pretend.

Do yourself a favor and watch a few hours of Canadian “ news” broadcasting - just for fun . Either the national broadcasts or even the Toronto or Vancouver local news and listen to how these people talk and what they value . It’s pretty illuminating.

Personally, I have never met a Canadian ( other than Todd Bertuzzi and anybody who ever played for the Red Wings ) that I didn’t like . Canadians are great people. But they have created a kind of small ball , sad sack political culture that has adopted Progressive virtue signaling as a defining creed. They are SO over the top, it’s ludicrous. It’s an entire nation that has organized around Progressive platitudes and slogans. Like school girls. The fact that they have hockey and lumberjacks and RCMP Mounties doesn’t change the fact that they are the most effeminate nation in the Western Hemisphere.
