I wouldn't do anything for cholesterol unless I had an LDL-P test. It's ridiculous that we KNOW now that traditional tests are bullshite; you can have low cholesterol and a risky LDL-P test, or high cholesterol and a sold test. We are medicating based on outdated testing.

Multiple people in this thread are acting like doctors are clueless on this.

EVERY board certified IMED and CV physician who trained in the last decade is fully aware of LDL-profiles, coronary calcium scores, etc. These tests do have some functional utility in the right patient populations. The problem is they generally aren't covered by insurances or Medicare and are cost prohibitive to most patient demographics.

The tests aren't perfect end all be all studi e however. Coronary calcium scoring didn't tell us who has the unstable plaques that are the most common cause of sudden cardiac death for instance.

Yes I had he LDL-P done too. It was 2895
