Shareef O’Neal becomes eligible at UCLA

He just qualified, but most followers of UCLA thought he would not.

. On May 22, Tracy Pierson of Bruin Report Online reported that O’Neal “more than likely won’t qualify academically to enroll” at UCLA. He “has been making an effort to, indeed, become eligible, but recent information leads us to believe it’s unlikely,” Pierson wrote.

I'm guessing its hard to stay motivated in high school when you're a star athlete and your dad is a world famous person worth $400 million.

UCLA is a pretty difficult school to get into (~17% acceptance rate). I'm sure they make big exceptions for athletes, but they still probably maintain some degree of scrutiny for acceptance.
