Out of action for two years, the popular lightweight will return to action on Nov. 3 when he fights fellow fan favorite Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, sources confirmed with MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi.
Awwwww shite. That'll be a good one.

Poirier should frick him up easily. I'd much rather see poirier face Ferguson for title challenge eliminator.

Don't think they've announced it yet. Hopefully Khabib Conor.

Poirier went from "I'm not answering the phone unless it's a title fight" to agreeing to the Diaz fight in about a day, so it makes sense. Co-main on the 155 title card, to challenge the winner or fill in if someone gets injured.

Diaz is probably their #2 draw now. They needed to get him to fight someone who isn't Conor. He knows if he wins, he can get Conor again straight away for another payday.

I doubt he is that big of a draw. Connor was the draw not Diaz. Nate Diaz is just an average fighter. He is 6-6 in his last 12 fights.

Diaz on the same card as Conor is absolutely a draw

I think all the talk about Khabib v Conor being a Vegas fight has been a head fake from UFC. November would make much more sense to me. Putting Nate and Poirier on there is a good idea as well.

The plan has been GSP vs Anderson Silva..

Conor vs Khabib will be in Vegas if it happens, not NY

I gotcha. Looks like Brendan Schaub may be the original source.

Either way, doesn't interest me.

Khabib said he wants the big money for McGregor or he's fighting Dustin on his current deal. Must have gotten the big money

I'd love to see an all lightweight/Featherweight Main Event

Connor/Khabib (LW champ)
Ortega/Aldo (FW champ)
Diaz/Porier
Ferguson/Pettis
Lee/Holloway (Holloway LW debut)

Seems like all these work time wise, and also allow for great options if guys miss weight/injured

This would be an amazing card. They need to go ahead and book Ortega v Aldo for FW- Max isn't coming back soon, from what I understand. It appears they still don't know what the problem is.

How would he go about fricking him up easily? Nate really is a terrible match up for Dustin. Even though Poirier started out as a wrestler with some BJJ he is mainly a striker as of late using his boxing. However, Nate is a better boxer and Dustin gets hit a lot cause he doesn't have good defense. And if he decides to make it a grappling match then he has to worry about getting submitted because even though he is a black belt, he's not on Nate's level there either. Even so, I believe that's his only path to victory. Wrestlefrick him and ground and pound. It's still going to be a close fight that could go either way, but I feel like if Nate comes back without any ring rust (big if) then he'll take it.

I don't think it's a cake walk for Dustin, either. Nate is a slick boxer.
