I haven’t really updated this thread lately so here’s some pics from this evening... right at one month after putting it down. The front yard really looks great, but the back had serious issues before I put it down. Here’s some pics:

It isn’t as good as other common fertilizers. I assumed people put it out to deter deer from browsing in gardens.

That front looks great. Maybe amend the soil in the bare patches in the back? Do you think you will use it again?

Yeah I’d probably use it again ... it’s only 12 bucks for a bag so i feel like it’s worth the price

I've never had an issue with my lawn using common fertilizers. In fact, I typically have one of the best looking lawns in the neighborhood. I put down Milorganite in the spring and early summer and my lawn is WRECKED!

Having said that, I'm not at all knowledgeable when it comes to lawn diseases, fungus, pests, and so on. That's why I have always stuck with the common do-all kind of products. So I suspect this could possibly be my fault for not supplementing the Milorganite with a fungicide and/or pesticide.

Anyway, no more for me. It might be great for the more knowledgeable lawn care person, but it's not for me. The stench alone was enough to keep me away.

Also, after I put it down in early summer, we had several days of rain and I ended up with a ton of toadstools in my yard. I've never had anything but an occasional toadstool before and I can't help but assume the Milorganite may have had something to do with it. I'm talking an infestation. Has anyone else seen this?

It’s organic so you can’t over do it.

WTF?

You cant overdo it because it has very little Nitrogen in it, there are tons of organics that will kill every living thing.

Exactly. Milirganite is 6-2-0. It doesn’t matter as much that it’s organic or whatever, but you can’t throw down something with a 6 nitrogen and expect the same results as a 10, 15, or whatever nitrogen. The benefit of milirganite is the price and that you can put it down more often without worrying about burning tour yard or wasting your fertilizer by over applying.

But in a sense it’s diluted.

My yard is centipede, so less is more when it comes to Nitrogen. I used Milorganite this year, just for the iron content. Had good results, but won't be using it again, simply due to the fact that Lowe's quit even carrying it halfway through the summer. I'll go back to Holganix next season. Lawn is still thriving with this warm, wet weather

you have a roller on your mower for striping or do it the redneck way by cutting two different heights?

Neither. Just a regular Kubota zg222 set at 3". I alternate those two patterns every other cut.
