Learn me about Kodi please

I know we have a few experts here. I know cash homey is one.
So here's my setup or thoughts. I have Vaders IPTV, so I'm just going to use that for live tv/sports. I have Real Debrid and I can use Terrarium for shows/movies.
The only plug-in I see I need with Kodi is Gaia, as that will let me stream 4k movies on my Shield. (Need to get that thing wired up too.)
Other than subtitles, is there really anything else that I would need or use? Truth be told, I don't watch that many movies or shows anyway. Mainly just background noise.
Any thoughts? I'll hang up and lissen. Thanks.

Why are you paying for IPTV?
Posted on 7/23/18 at 10:22 pm to Jjdoc
I'm not sure if you even need Kodi if your terrium is working good. Kodi is all I know when it comes to scrapers, but have been looking at terrium and need to learn the newer scraper/streamers out there.
I can't speak for the OP, but I also use vaders for iptv. I use it because I have never had any luck with a consistent live sports stream. Sure at one time I could get streams from sports devil. Then that went to crap. I got prostreams from reddit and that went to crap. Followed by just streaming with reddit links. Half the time that will go out too.
So I tried the 'legal' route and their streaming is hot garbage (sling). Vaders has been very good at not only live tv, but also their video on demand is much easier than kodi. To me, it's well worth the $15/mth or less.

Free IPTV never works for long. Better to pay a reasonable amount for quality IMO.
Thanks guys. The 4k streaming with Gaia still needs some work. Still buffering on the actual 2160p streams.

It uses the same links. I have both.

And Setv left and took 100s of thousands from people.... using the same links.
On a side note, a new guy shows up here right after that promoting a new IPTV. Interesting isn't it.

I've demo'd all of the platforms like Sling. No issues for me.
The main issue with most Kodi users is they are not well equipped to adjust it, keep it updated....etc.
I have zero issues with Kodi. I'm not promoting Kodi. All things come and go.

I never have an issue that paid doesn't have

Terrarium doesn't have 4k links though, right? It's great for stuff otherwise.
As for Vaders it's just what I went with seeing as it was the biggest "most reliable" service I could find good info on on Reddit. Maybe others have been lucky with free streams. I'm more paying for the convenience of just opening an app and streaming as opposed to digging around for links, etc. Just my opinion anyway.

No idea on the history of iptv. I was with sling for 3 yrs during the football season but it sucked because it used espn's stream. I can't believe you never had any problems streaming football games. To me it was unwatchable. Even straight off espn's site. Not sure if Vaders will be good or not for Football but so far it has for world cup and the nba finals. I'm still month to month paying for it though.
I finally looked up durex kodi and it has worked pretty good until lately. After all these years without cable/sat, I've learned it's better to have multiple ways to find what you're looking for. Because the one way you count on will fail right in the middle of the big game (whichever game that is for you).

Yes... I think it does. Top left.. the drop down menu has it. It's not in front of me... but I think that's where it is.

I'm not knocking it, but if you are going to pay, unless you have it to waste, go month to month.
Now, Ivue Tv Guide has great integration. There are a few builds that have done a great job with it. What happens is upon launch, it populates all of the channels and taps into every addon live channels and sorts them.
Example.. You want to watch History Channel because you love Vikings and it's on. When you change it to that channel, all addons that has links to that channel. So you choose the addon and it plays it. If not, select the next addon and it's automatic and stays on the TV Guide.
Where as, if you are with a paid IPTV and a channel goes black, you are waiting on somebody to get a valid link.
Another feature you may not know about is that you can access vaders or Terrarium from inside Kodi.

If there is a free iptv that has nba league pass and red zone in a single easy to use apk. Please let me know.
Ive gone the free route for years, but the paid iptv like nosleep2 is well worth it for about 5 bucks a month. Kodi solutions iptv is another that i heard that may be good.

Yeah, I have seriously never had an issue with them. I don't have them now, but... I also have no problem with Sprint. LOL!

I very rarely use a build. I do my own and that way I know I'm not at the mercy of somebody else. I do have 2 boxes that I use strictly for "playing" around on when I have time. Some of that is helping some friends tweak builds. Other times I'm looking at new builds just to see what people are attempting.
I like Eden (silver). It's fast, and I like the skin job. I like what Jason does with one of his as far as function (don't like the skin). Very good integration with iVue. And if you get a chance to load that build, you will find the guide to work well.
Jason also puts a lot of pay IPTV addons like gears...etc etc.

Me too. Camelot was XBMC 9. And that's when I left cable.

Yeah, I'm not knocking paying. I was just pointing out that most of these are the same streams.
Either way, if you can't find the streams on your own, you are at the mercy of those providing.

There's a lot that's around. IF you are a KODI fan, and need a better guide. Some of these you can link to other guides.

Yeah I just do month to month in case they die at any time. It's just easy to me. Now if it craps out I'll be on Reddit in 30 seconds flat loading another stream.
I made my Kodi build as simple and light as possible. Standard skin, removed all tabs except favorites and add-ons. (And if I'm not tinkering, I hide addons as well.) All I've ever even used is Gaia. I have Neptune and Placenta and never even use them. I'll add the videos back once I get some storage and build a library.

I use to do all of that. There are ways you can set up and it will automatically download when new episodes come out at the quality you want... movies too.
Have you ever tried setting up the cinema experience? You know, triva questions etc (as if you were at a movie)?

Never tried that. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to this stuff.
I looked into rtorrent and using NAS. All that's a bit over my head at this point. I'm fine doing things manual for now. Honestly I'll never watch probably 75% of whatever I download. Only if someone else is over and wants to watch it.
