The last few years I was in high school we had to have picture badges. Out of more than 1500 students maybe 20 a day were without them. A temporary badge had to be obtained.

Yeah but most didn't need them, I know I never needed mine unless I was buying lunch.
Most schools lock the gates/doors during school hours and only have one entry way in. This is a safety measure many have taken lately
