So people with actual mental illnesses don't have a genetic/brain structure component different than people who do not have a mental illness?

Yes, they normally would but that doesn't mean there isn't still yet another variant we don't understand. I'm spitballin, here man, I'm not a neurologist. IMHO, we just don't definitively know. And the fact that many (but definitely not all) exhibit far more severe psychological issues is not proof in itself . I just think the science is not in on this yet. I see a physiological/genetic component here that may be completely separate from what we think of as "mental illness". That's just my guess.
