Yep. Nothing has survived there, which to me means there has to be another reason beside just having shitty businesses. I'd imagine the rent in that locale ain't cheap and it takes a LOT of business to be profitable. Still, it seems like it should be a great location for bars and restaurants. Campus on one side and several apartment buildings on the other. Hell, less than 100 yards away you have one of, if not the most popular restaurant on (near) campus.

Clearly it isn't going to work as a bar. A pizza place tried their craft their once before and flamed out. Maybe selling by the slice works. Pizza is pretty cheap (if you don't get too pretentious), so the margins could be decent. And you would think some drunk kids leaving the Varsity might be inclined to get a slice.

Others can provide more info than me, but it's always been a mystery to me why nothing seems to survive on that street

Reginelli's was there for about 9 years before closing that location. I wouldn't say they flamed out. Just opened too many locations and closed one of the less profitable ones.

I think Mahoney's could have made it but apparently the rent prices there are stupid.
