They tried to kill the Isralites. Not much use. Plus they had no interest in worshiping the true God. They liked what they were doing and the Old Testament was one continual story of Israel forsaking God to worship as those child sacrificers did. God punished them over and over again because of it.

If God really felt that way about kids being killed why doesn't he send his chosen race again to commit genocide on the countries who are killing children (abortions) today?

Shame the smarter we get the less miracles God performs.

Because God doesn't have a special chosen race or people group anymore. God's people are Christians who live in all corners of the world. We stop such atrocities by influencing our governments to act accordingly. Why do you think so many Christians make abortion a big deal with voting for representatives?

Don't confuse knowledge with intelligence.

Also, God stopped working through obvious miracles when the New Testament was completed. The point of miracles was to attest to the authority of God when He spoke to the people. It's why Jesus performed miracles. It wasn't just to be a good dude or a cool example to follow; it was to prove He had the power of God. With the completion of the Bible as the word of God, the miracles are no longer necessary to attest to its authority.
