Garrett had done a great job up until now acting like the adult in the room and saying things like "let the investigations run its course", " I support the president when he's right and oppose him when he's wrong", etc. He's been able to appease NeverTrumpers and MAGA alike while voting for all of Trump's initiatives in Congress.
He just backed the wrong horse, and it might cost him.
I don't see a legit challenger actually unseating him, but ill-advised comments like this could empower a challenger that would force Garret into a runoff.

I love our God Emperor and I wish he could be our permanent president. But Putin is seriously a BOSS, I hope we can change the rules so he’ll be POTUS in 2024

Yep.
Some of these people take their political loyalty way too fricking far to the point where it enables the politican to regress and get more and more establishment minded.
The President needs sound checks and balances in Congress and good for Garret carrying out his constitutional obligations.
