Hey guys,

What is this growing through my centipede grass?

And what can I order to kill it? I also have some goosegrass (at least I think its goosegrass, maybe Bahiagrass) and foxtail growing throughout, is there something I can buy on amazon right now and apply to kill it off (with the weather being so hot?)

Thanks

I have also been cursed with this bullshite. Sprayed it with sethoxydim. It's kind of died back for about 3 weeks, but is growing again. I think I may go nuclear next spring.

Fantastic, found this article from Agcenter:

quote:

In centipedegrass lawns, you can use the herbicide sethoxydim (Vantage or Poast) to suppress torpedograss and kill grassy weeds. It does not hurt centipedegrass if applied as directed. Repeated applications – at least three – through the summer will keep torpedograss suppressed – but not eradicated. If you ever stop spraying, it will come back.

That will work. You should also purchase the Spreader Sticker it suggests. That will help it stick to the blades of grass.

By work, I mean it will knock it back for a month or so. I hope whoever brought torpedograss into the US is being tortured in hell for all of eternity.

I bought the same exact stuff off amazon last week. Put it out on maybe Thursday and I need to check good today to see if it has done anything. I didn't buy any sticker so might try that.

Cool, do I need to be worried about the summer heat? Also I was thinking about doing a generic scotts hose spray fertilizer, cause my grass gets a little yellow from time to time, do I need to be worried about it being over 85 degrees? and or should I not even mess with the fertilizer while dealing with the herbicide.

Not sure about the heat. I would read the label and use it accordingly. I'm sure Bootlegger will have a proper answer for you when he sees this thread. I'm not an expert like him. I'm just a guy in a similar predicament.

No doubt. I Need to replace that dull beat up blade badly. I was embarrassed by the close up pic....
